Health Sciences North Foundation (HSNF) celebrated 20 years of supporting health-care excellence June 27, 2018 hosting a cake and coffee event for Health Sciences North (HSN) staff, physicians and volunteers, and an evening reception for sponsors, donors and the general public at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre.

“The events gave us the opportunity to thank those who have had an impact on enhancing patient care in our community, and showcasing our rich history and the considerable impact gift giving has had on our local healthcare facility,” says Mary Lou Hussak, Health Sciences North Foundation president and CEO.

History display boards were used at the events to share the legacy of gift giving, including the Laurentian Hospital Foundation and the Sudbury Memorial Hospital Foundation, which were amalgamated into the current HSNF.

“HSN Foundation, as the fundraising arm of the hospital, has cultivated positive relationships with generous community donors to help bring state-of-the-art equipment, advance research and enhanced facilities to patients and families,” says Dominic Giroux, HSN president and CEO. “We are appreciative of the hospital Foundation and their hard work enabling us to be a leader in healthcare for the people of the North,” he adds.

“The foundation of health care continues to get stronger by our generous donors, sponsors and supporters who believe, first and foremost, in supporting healthcare excellence and providing the best quality patient care,” says Alex Patterson, past Health Sciences North Foundation Board Chair.

Recently, HSNF was a proud contributor of $5.4 million towards the construction and equipment of the new Learners’ Centre, expected to be completed in 2019.
