The board of regents of the University of Sudbury confirmed that its president, Pierre Zundel, will be leaving at the end of this academic year.
Zundel has accepted the position of vice-president academic at Laurentian University as of July 1, 2016.
The Board of Regents wishes to take full advantage of this transition period to recruit its 15th President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sudbury.
Since his arrival in 2009, Dr. Zundel has been instrumental in developing the University’s capacities on a much broader scale and in increasing the University’s visibility not only on the local front, but provincially as well as nationally.
His accomplishments are numerous and though his departure is a loss for the University, it takes comfort in the fact that he will continue to be part of the Laurentian Federation.
Although Zundel will continue in his current capacity until June 30, in an effort to minimise the impact of his departure, the Board of Regents has already started the proceedings for a replacement.
An external firm will oversee the process in order to maximize the recruitment efforts. Both the board and the University’s employees wish Dr. Zundel great success in the new endeavours he will soon undertake.
