Sudbury Kiwanis Festival celebrates 65 years

|

Anyone who has ever performed at the Kiwanis music or dance festivals remembers their first time on stage. It can be a nerve-wracking experience. Musicians have performed this spring ritual for the past 65 years in Sudbury.

About 800 students in voice, guitar, strings, piano, brass, woodwinds and band will perform this year. The music festival will be held April 5 to 16 at St. Andrew's Church and Church of the Epiphany.

Classical music students of any age are eligible to enter. "They can be as young as five...last year a 65-year-old performed," says co-ordinator Heather Parker.

A final concert of top performers will be held Monday, May 10 at St. Andrew's. The dance festival will be held from April 23 to 25.
