Winning combinations

VICKI GILHULA

Summer 2008 |

Matthew Bertrand , 17, is Mr. Sudbury for 2008. The oldest of six children, he lives in the city’s South End and attends Sudbury Secondary School.

He enjoys sports such as snowboarding, swimming, biking. hockey and basketball.

He hopes to do some travelling before going to university. He plans to attend medical school and become a doctor.

Matthew and the other winners of the Sudbury Youth Contest attend many special events during the year including the the Mayor’s Mulligan golf tournament, the city’s 125 Anniversary celebrations and the Italian Festival.


Melani Boudreau, 18, lives in Markstay and plans to move to Sudbury soon with her family.

The eldest of three children, she is attending the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Toronto. Melani enjoys horseback riding, modeling and poetry.

She also enjoys writing and public speaking.
