For many years now, the general managers of Desjardins Caisses populaires in Northern Ontario have participated in the Telethon and are very proud again this year to contribute to this fundraising campaign for children.
"This event is very important to us so we’re always ready to show our support," says Paul Mayer, general manager of Caisse populaire Val Caron.
To raise funds, Dress Down Days were organized in many Caisses, including Caisse populaire des Voyageurs, where staff collected $503.
"This is a good cause and our staff is well aware of that," explains Jean-Marc Spencer, executive director of Caisse populaire des Voyageurs.
Caisses populaires Vermillon, Val Caron and Coniston also organized Dress Down Days and pulled together $299.47.
"The remaining amount is composed of donations by all of the Caisses populaires in Greater Sudbury as well as Caisses populaires in Cochrane, Earlton and New Liskeard," says Jean Bisson, general manager of Caisse populaire Vermillon, who adds: "It’s a great collaborative project among the Caisses. Children’s causes are directly linked to one of the Desjardins Group’s core values, which is to contribute to the economic and social well-being of people and communities."
The Caisses populaires Desjardins have 12 branches in the Greater Sudbury region.
