Located within the CNIB office in Sudbury on York St., the store features practical products that enable blind and partially sighted people to confidently enjoy regular activities and pursue new skills and opportunities. Clients will find more than 60 best-selling products on site and can order from more than a thousand products available online and through a catalogue. Experienced staff is available to help consumers make the right choice, whether it's selecting something simple, like large print playing cards, or figuring out the latest in assistive computer technology. Products range from a voice-controlled talking alarm clock, to a pen that records your voice on labels, telling you what colour your suit is, or whether you're adding chili powder or sugar to your soup. The CNIB assists thousands of blind and partially sighted people every day in Ontario, says Paul Ting, Managing Director, Services and Operations Ontario. This store opens the door to new opportunities, providing valuable tools and solutions to help them lead active lives. Demonstrations at the launch will include goggles that simulate various eye conditions to help you fully understand the experience of living with vision loss. Both clients and staff will be on site to demonstrate the products and you will leave with a better understanding of how CNIB helps blind and partially sighted Canadians live life to the fullest.
