MARIANA LAFRANCE
Summer 2009 |
Lafrance grew up on Manitoulin Island before moving to Sudbury, and feels she has a personal relationship with the “Big City” she remembers from her youth.
“I like to walk and wander...I saw photographs everywhere in Sudbury,” she says,
Site Unseen ($29.95) was published to celebrate the city’s 125th anniversary with financial assistance from the city and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
In addition to the photographs, there are stories and poems by francophone writers such as Michel Dallaire and the late Robert Dickson.
Lafrance, who now works at the Canadian Museum of Natural Sciences in Ottawa, will have an exhibition of her work, Le nickel city flâneur, at La Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario in May.
