Fay reid's work in acrylics

“I paint what I know,” the self-taught artist says. “I know the colour of the seasons (at home).”
She loves the rugged landscape of the Sudbury Basin, but since so many artists have captured it so well on canvas, when she started to get serious about her work a few years ago, she knew she wanted to paint the bonny isle of heather on the hills and rugged coastlines.
“It is very beautiful. Very rugged. It pulls you right in. Once you see it, you want to go back. I don’t think there is any place quite like it.”
Reid and her family came from Scotland to Canada in 1980. One of her daughters is currently living across the pond, so she visits there quite often. Her work is displayed at the Childs Art Gallery in Oban, Scotland.
Reid had an exhibition at the Sudbury Theatre Centre earlier this year.
Her work in acrylics placed first and second at the Centennial Museum of Sheguindah Heritage Alive Visual Arts Exhibition in 2006, and she won a first in watercolour at the Massey Museum Art Show.
