As many of you know CBC Radio in Sudbury is about to cut half its staff. Thunder Bay is also facing cuts. Both stations cover an area the size of Europe. This is unfair to northerners, many who have little access to other quality radio programming.
Friends of CBC Radio are invited to a rally Sunday, April 5th, 2:30pm to 4:00pm at Tom Davies Square.
Celebrate our community on Sunday afternoon with music and words from:
Charlie Angus of the Grievous Angels, Highgrader Magazine and Member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay. A leader. An activist. A muckraker
Charlie Smith... The Bard of The North Shore... will read some poems... his first public performance was on CBC Talkback
Kevin Closs... A veteran music leader in our community. His Oh Canada started your day for years. Singer, Songwriter, etc
Patricia Cano... powerful singer. Bright new star in the North.
Jeff Wiseman... A rich voice that is unmistakeable in our community.
Sudbury Chamber Singers... conducted by Jeff Wiseman will do an acapella piece
Statues... Sudbury band has toured Canada and Europe and released 3 CD's... will do an acoustic version of one of their songs.
Brian Dunn... local songwriter, third generation Sudbury musician, co-owner Cosmic Dave's Guitar Emporium
Jennifer Plummer... acclaimed songwriter from Iroquois Falls, now living in Sudbury.
Stephane Paquette... Singer, Actor. One of Sudbury's most travelled performers of the last few years.
Vicki Gilhula is the editor of Sudbury Living.
