Cinéfest Sudbury is excited to announce the final selection of the Cana-Doc program that will screen at the 30th edition of the Festival.
Immaculate Memories: The Uncluttered Worlds of Christopher Pratt: The life and art of Christopher Pratt. This is the first feature-length documentary that Christopher Pratt has agreed to participate in. An honest, funny, eloquent, bizarre, and sometimes unsettling account of his life and art, and an extremely important cultural document.
What is Democracy? Coming at a moment of profound political and social crisis, What is Democracy?reflects on a word we too often take for granted. Director Astra Taylor’s idiosyncratic, philosophical journey spans millennia and continents: from ancient Athens’ ground-breaking experiment in self-government to capitalism’s roots in medieval Italy; from modern-day Greece grappling with financial collapse and a mounting refugee crisis to the United States reckoning with its racist past and the growing gap between rich and poor.
You Are Here: An intimate documentary that goes deep into the community of Gander, Newfoundland where 38 airliners carrying over 6,500 passengers were forced to land after the terrorist attacks on 9/11. The film pulls back the emotional layers surrounding the five days during which the community housed, fed and cared for the dislocated passengers (or the “come from aways” in Newfoundland parlance).
The 30th edition of Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival runs from September 15 –23, 2018.
