Lockerby students raise $45,000 for pediatric oncology

Lockerby Composite School Kids raise more than $45,000.

The students of Lockerby Composite School braved the brisk evening yesterday and raised over $45,000 as part of their annual Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive. This brings the 21 year total of the fundraising blitz to over $845,000! All funds raised by the Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive supports Pediatric Oncology at the Northeast Cancer Centre. Every nickel raised here, stays here.

“It’s amazing that year after year these kids go out into the cold and collect funds on our behalf,” says Tannys Laughren, Executive Director of the Northern Cancer Foundation. “Especially with the change of dates to October – we’re beyond happy with the Greater Sudbury community for all of their generous support.”

The Northern Cancer Foundation would like to recognize all of the teachers and staff at Lockerby Composite School for their hard work, the Vikings and especially the students of the Kids Caring for Kids Committee for organizing and managing this great event and the Greater Sudbury community for once again supporting the children all over Northeastern Ontario who come to the NECC for treatment. Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank Pina Cotesta for keeping Laura’s dream and memory close to her heart and close to ours.
