YES Theatre is proud to present the timeless classic Fiddler on the Roof, at the Sudbury Theatre Centre. Aug. 7 -29

Winner of nine Tony Awards when it debuted in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof is the brainchild of Broadway legends Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, and bookwriter Joseph Stein. Touching audiences worldwide with its humour, warmth and honesty, the show is a staple of musical theatre. Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story focuses on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters.

With the help of a colourful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instil them with traditional values in the face of a changing social scene and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

YES Theatre is a non-profit organization which looks to demonstrate the exceptional talent found here in Greater Sudbury. Past productions include “Hair” (2010), “Rent” (2011), “Spring Awakening” (2012) and “Jesus Christ Superstar” (2013 &14), “In The Heights” (2014), “Les Miserables” (2014 with the SSO), and “American Idiot (2015).
