Up Fest is a new multi-venue urban art festival presented by Downtown Sudbury.
Up Fest is a public art event that culminates in an emerging music festival and will include an all-night art crawl. Eight muralists will create murals and the festival will feature more than 35 musicians in eight venues.
Muralists will arrive in Sudbury Aug. 5 to start working on murals that will go up around downtown. Local artists and muralists from across the country will have the opportunity to work together for a week of transforming blank walls into beautiful public art pieces.
During the festival weekend, Durham St. in front of the YMCA will be transformed into an art park with temporary streetscaping and interactive art installations.
Festival entertainers include A Tribe Called Red, Tanya Tagaq, Suuns, Rich Aucoin, Mozart’s Sister, Doldrums, Doomsquad, the Almighty Rhombus, Petra Glynt, Les Marinellis, Organ Mood, Beat Market, PyPy, Jesse Mac Cormack, Dories, Nick Sherman, the Weakness, Geneviève & Matthieu, Submerged Objects, Strange Attractor, Rose-Erin Stokes, the Housewives of Kagawong, Scattered Clouds, Mick Futures, Murder Murder and the Ape-ettes
