Tickets are still available for the arts event of the season, the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts. presented by RBC.
All proceeds from this event go to continue the success of this arts awards program. Tickets for
the event are $50 and are available at Artists on Elgin or through Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario by

Three award winners will be presented with bursaries made possible by the generosity of community and business sponsors and applauded by their peers and patrons of the arts at the second annual gala arts reception.
The Exceptional Achievement Award (bursary of $3,500), sponsored by Autumnwood Mature
Lifestyle Communities, will be presented to a professional artist for his or her lifetime
contribution to the arts, through an extensive body of works in one or several disciplines, as
well as through her/his contribution over time to the development and betterment of the arts
The Outstanding Mid-Career Artist Award (bursary of $2,500), sponsored by Fidelity
Investments Canada, will be presented to a mid‐career professional artist selected for his or her
sustained efforts to pursue a professional career in the arts and to produce new works, while
contributing to the development and betterment of the arts community. The nominees are:
The celebration will begin at 7 pm and will feature live entertainment as well as
catering by Bryston’s. The event is sponsored by the RBC Royal Bank & Dominion Securities,
and the Sudbury Real Estate Board.
“The Mayor’s Celebration is hosted by the Sudbury Arts Council in co-operation with the
ROCS. It is made possible by the generosity of community and business sponsors who identify
the arts as having a major role to play in a healthy community,” says Vicki Gilhula, the Arts
Council’s past-president and a member of the Celebration Steering committee.
