Saturday was buzzing with excitement when Karen Yawney shaved her long, blonde hair at Talk of the Town Hair Factory and Spa in support of Pediatric Oncology. She also donated her precious locks to be made into a wig for a cancer patient.

Thank you Karen! The courage it took to shave her head is one thing, the courage it took to set a high fundraising goal is another and Karen has proven her courage to our community, for that we are extremely proud of Karen,” says Tannys Laughren, Executive Director of Northern Cancer Foundation.

There is still time to help Karen raise $15,000 for “Karen for Kids with Cancer” in support of the Northern Cancer Foundation (NCF) bennifiting the Northeast Cancer Centre’s Pediatric Oncology program. The fundraising deadline is Feb. 14.

I am so pleased and am overwhelmed with the generosity and support I have received! A huge thank you to those who have donated and supported me so far with this wonderful cause,” says Karen Yawney.

To date Karen has raised over $12,000. To make your donation, visit www.canadahelps.org, enter Northern Cancer Foundation in the search bar, and find “Karen for Kids with Cancer” under the drop down menu.
