On May 17, United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts celebrated the end of its 30th anniversary during its Annual General Meeting.
President and CEO of United Way Centraide Canada, Dr. Jacline Abray-Nyman was the keynote speaker for this event.
“It seems to me that what we’re celebrating tonight is an exciting new time for United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts – new partners, new relationships and new achievements,” said Abray-Nyman. “I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all of you on your commitment to changing the communities in which we live…for the better,” she continued.
United Way Sudbury and Nipissing Districts also celebrated volunteers by handing out United Way Awards. These include:
James Grasby Volunteer of the Year Award: Denis Theriault;
Frank March All For One Award: Sandy Tamura and Norm Dubien;
Guy Fournier United Way Partnership Award: University of Sudbury
Also, GenNext, a Program of United Way, honour and celebrate volunteerism within the 20 to 39 year age group.
