Walden Art Club will hold their spring Artists In Action show April 5 and 6 from 11 am until 5 pm. Free admission. To be held at the Walden Arena.

 

 

 

April 10

Reva Seth. the author of The MomShift: Women Share Their Stories of Career Success After Having Children (Random House).will speak at Celebrate Women-2014 at Fraser Auditorium Thursday, April 10. Tickets for the event, which raises money for women’s groups, are $10. Celebrate Women is CFUW Sudbury’s signature event. It was created in 1996 in partnership with the YWCA Sudbury and the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund.

Continuing April 12 and 13, Sudbury Art Club annual Spring Art Show, at CNIB. Opening reception is Friday from 7 to 9 pm.

Science North turns 30 this year. The precious stones used to mark a 30th anniversary are pearls and diamonds. Wear them to the White Gala with your best white formal wear for an evening of food, fun, entertainment and a IMAX movie (Wonders of the Arctic). Tickets are $250 each.

The fourth annual Springfest Concert will take place at St. Andrew’s Place, 111 Larch St. at 7 pm. The concert will feature Dave Gunning, East Canadian singer/songwriter who won the CBC Hockey Night in Canada Song Contest, accompanied by Cape Breton fiddler Allie Bennett; Wendell Ferguson with Katherine Wheatley; and the Suzie Vinnick Blues Trio. Sudbury Secondary School presents Legally Blonde: The Musical from April 24 to May 2 with a cast of more than 20 students. (705.674.7551)

Sudbury Symphony at Glad Tidings Church (1101 Regent St.) 8 pm. During the second half of the concert experience the creative process at work as artists paint canvases live to Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. This concert also features, Mercure’s Kaléidoscope, Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite and Bizet’s L’arlésienne, Suite No. 1

 

May 1

CN presents First Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, at the School of Architecture, hosted by the Sudbury Arts Council. Tickets are $50 available at TNO  box office or online.

Sudbury will join many Canadian communities to host a large celebration of youth creative expression of children. Sudbury’s first National Youth Arts Week will take place from May 1 to 7 at numerous venues around the city.
