Where does the time go? It seems like last month, my managers started to talk about starting a glossy lifestyle magazine.
As a journalist, I am always a skeptic. Magazines seemed to be on the same path to oblivion that the soothsayers predicted for newspapers.
I am happy to say the magazine business is very healthy. 144 new Canadian consumer magazines were launched in the past five years. Magazines are not tomorrow’s bird cage liner…the average magazine copy has five readers.
Magazines like Sudbury Living are the most personal of media. We try to speak to readers in unique, personal ways. Every reader has different relationship with us.
We are celebrating five successful years, and a few nervous months…I want to thank the writers and photographers, the staff, our advertisers, and our readers for their support.
