I have had several phone calls asking about Labour Day events.
Here is the news release about Labour Day celebrations at Bell Park Monday.
Sudbury’s inaugural Labour Day Family Fun Fest is a great way to enjoy the last day of Summer and help our community.
While enjoying an exciting day out at Bell Park, taking in free music, a barbecue, classic car show, and activities for the kids, Sudburians will be supporting the Breakfast Club for Kids.
Ashley Kaattari coordinates the Breakfast Club for Kids for the Human League Association, the charity of choice for this year’s inaugural Labour Day Family Fund.
“By feeding children a nutritious morning meal, students have shown marked improvements in and out of the classroom.” Says Kaattari, “As kids, parents and teachers get ready for back-to-school we are excited to have this chance to showcase our program in such a fun way.”
Lead by local labour unions, including the Retail Wholesale Department Store Union (RWDSU) and the United Steelworkers local 6500 and local 2020, the event is “All-Free” with any donations going to support the Breakfast Program. Generous sponsors from the city, including Dominion Insurance group, Pine Grove and Stonehill Golf clubs and many others have provided exciting prizes and financial support for the event
Derik MacArthur, President of the RWDSU is proud of the community efforts to make the event a success. “We know that Sudburians are going to have a great time this Labour Day, and we are very thankful for the volunteers and community partners who are making it possible.”
