Celebrate the luck of the Irish with an authentic Irish whiskey. Although there are many styles available, what is important to know is Irish whiskey is distilled three times.

During the malting process, peat is almost never used, which yields a spirit that is less smoky and earthy than Scotch whisky. Because of these methods, Irish whiskey is typically perceived to be light bodied and sweet.

The Redbreast 12 Year Old (#636845 Ireland, $40.90) is a single unblended, pure pot still whiskey, which has been matured for a minimum of 12 years in sherry and bourbon casks. It is smooth, yet full-flavoured, assertive but not overly robust, and lingers on the palate exquisitely.

The LCBO also has a full gamut of Irish beer, liqueurs and delicious recipe suggestions.
South America is known for its rich, opulent, fruit-driven wines. Argentina, the largest producer of wines in South America, is producing some of the best wines of the world. The dry, sunny climate is ideal for grape growing, and the Andes Mountains provide abundant, pure water for irrigation.

The seductive Catena Malbec 2005 (#478727 Argentina, $19.80) has an alluring bouquet of sweet spice notes, is rich and creamy on the palate, and has a long velvety finish.

Spanish red wines are also becoming increasingly popular. The Red Guitar Old Vine (#54007 Spain, $12.95) is a crowd-pleasing gem that sources its Tempranillo and Grenache fruit from vines up to 110 years old. Red Guitar’s ripe fruit character, richness and long, smooth finish will entice the taste buds.

Osborne Ducal Shiraz Tempranillo (#11783 Spain, $12.05) is packaged in a convenient one-litre carton. The Shiraz lends its structure and intensity to the milder, creamier tempranillo. Ripe raspberry, spice and intriguing cola aromas abound in this medium-bodied red. Serve these two wines with grilled steak or spicy pork ribs.

Our journey ends here for now. The knowledgeable staff at LCBO is waiting to help customers to discover the world.
